Digital tools bring us closer to our teams
Tun Di Bari, CEO of Dussmann, Luxembourg’s second largest employer, reflects on their strategic partnership with Microtis, established in 2002, to address key HR challenges, particularly payroll.
Dussmann, one of Luxembourg’s largest employers, stands out for its agility and innovative approach—particularly in the way it manages its workforce. CEO Tun Di Bari explains how digital solutions like Microtis' Gesper platform are essential drivers for enhancing performance.
Dussmann Luxembourg, a leading multi-service company, specialises in cleaning and maintenance, security services, contract catering, and industrial laundry. Thanks to the diversity of its service offering—from manned security to green space maintenance—and a consistent focus on quality, the company has established itself as one of the country’s top employers. With nearly 5,000 staff operating on client sites across the country, Dussmann thrives in a traditionally structured sector while embracing innovation and agility to address operational challenges and stay aligned with a fast-changing market.
“One of our biggest challenges in HR management is workforce organisation,” explains Tun Di Bari, CEO of Dussmann. “We must constantly ensure that our teams are delivering services as planned across the territory. That requires intense planning and real-time tracking. On a daily basis, we need to adjust schedules, manage absences, ensure hours are worked in the right location, log overtime, and more.”
Digital tools enhancing HR management
In response, the company has established a dedicated team for personnel planning and monitoring. Digital tools have become indispensable in this area, serving as real catalysts for innovation. HR information systems have played a key role in supporting Dussmann’s growth.
“For several years now, we’ve improved our HR operations using the Gesper platform by Microtis, which allows us to centralise HR data and simplify payroll processing. We’ve been using the solution since 2002, and it has significantly accelerated our administrative workflows,” says Tun Di Bari. “The Microtis team has been supporting us for years and continues to evolve the platform in response to our challenges. What once took ten days in payroll processing can now be done in two to three days, with greater reliability and zero errors. It’s a real value driver, both internally and in positioning us ahead of competitors.”

Streamlining data entry and automating processes
While Gesper is central to HR management, Dussmann has also implemented additional tools integrated with its central database. One recent innovation is a mobile app developed in-house, designed to assist staff in their daily work and streamline planning.
“Through this app, employees can clock in, report absences, and request leave. They can also indicate availability for extra shifts,” says Di Bari. “This tool improves our agility—especially when searching for available staff—and offers our employees more flexibility, all while ensuring compliance with collective agreements. Thanks to this digital tool, we are more connected to our teams on the ground.”
In this context, digitalisation improves the overall employee experience. “Staff have access to real-time information, which simplifies their day-to-day tasks. These tools help us stand out from the competition, improve employee satisfaction, and boost retention,” he adds.

Transparency and reliability
Data collected through the mobile app can be easily verified and fed into Gesper to calculate payroll, track leave, and complete other mandatory declarations. “It brings transparency to everyone involved and eliminates errors,” says Tun Di Bari. “From an HR and team management perspective, we also save considerable time on admin, which we can reinvest in supporting our staff, ensuring their satisfaction, and enhancing service quality.”

Staying close to the workforce
For the CEO, leveraging digital tools is not about replacing human contact or monitoring staff—it’s about improving the work environment and boosting satisfaction for both employees and clients. “The human factor is essential to us. And to support people properly, we need to be more present on the ground. Digital tools should free us from administrative burdens so that we can be closer to our teams,” he explains.
Exploring the potential of AI
He also sees huge potential in artificial intelligence. “We’re actively exploring what AI can offer, and I’m particularly interested in how it could be integrated into tools like Gesper. For example, AI could help match the right person to the right job based on their location, skills, language, and other criteria. It could also streamline communication between employees and support teams, offering faster responses to queries. Ultimately, AI has the potential to boost efficiency, improve quality of working life, and better showcase our people’s talents.”
